The small Austrian state of Vorarlberg is full of little gems, like this wonderful hiking route for children located in Rankweil.
It is an easy path, suitable for children of all ages, with 49 information stations and lots of activities.
For families with babies, they can easily walk alongside with a stroller following the main path, while older children can let off steam, splash and balance over the Trift Canal. The walking time is approximately 30 minutes.
The trail starts directly behind Rankweil’s Gewerbepark . Parking is available directly on the other side of the road.
The Trift is an adventure trail that provides information about the former timber industry. From station 1, right next to the Gewerbepark, you can immerse yourself in the world of the Flözer. You can learn everything about “TrifterLatein”, wooden markings, domestic animals and adventurous experiences here. But it’s not just a place where you can read a lot, it’s also an adventure path. Many wooden walkways, bridges, zip-lines and suspension bridges repeatedly lead over the Trift Canal next to the Frutz river. Action and changing clothes are the order of the day!
The last station is the largest and most extensive. There are pools where you can play with mud, sand, gravel and water. Run, let off steam, watch the water run and rock back and forth on a flying fox. Benches and huge logs to enjoy the snack are plentiful.
The municipality of Rankweil conditioned the adventure trail Trift in 2019 after renovation to admire, play and enjoy. There is also a very detailed website with a lot of information and a 360 degree view and virtual tour.
